Emma Harrison - Teaching you to communicate in French and English

Emma Harrison - Teaching you to communicate in French and English

I particularly enjoy helping adults to achieve communication goals as I have a deep understanding of both French & English, & can help learners to grasp the nuances of both. I listen carefully, pay attention to detail & plan accordingly, using the ‘vast amount of resources that I have accumulated’.

I am a qualified teacher of French & ‘English For Speakers of Other Languages’, with nearly 30 years of experience helping adults & children. I can answer all the questions that pre-recorded methods can’t & provide interaction which cannot be learned from a book or CD.

I am enthusiastic & encouraging to students, which I have been told is ‘a breath of fresh air’.

My ideal student is an adult who is striving to perfect language skills.

I am fully DBS compliant & have Qualified Teacher Status.

About Emma

My family moved around a lot when I was growing up. We moved to Bahrain & then Saudi Arabia, when I was about 3 & lived there for nearly 4 years. I lived on a compound, roller-skating & swimming in an outdoor pool every day.

I made friends with people from other countries, some of whom I am still friends with. I am grateful for having had the chance to live abroad, as it has given me a love of other cultures & languages.

I am bilingual in both English & French, as a result of attending an international school & learning French from the age of 6.

I attended Nottingham Trent University, spending a GAP year teaching English in France. Then I studied at Exeter University to get a PGCE in French & went on to get a CELTA to teach English as a Foreign Language.

Later study, as a mum, also gave me certification for work with children under the age of 11 years.
